News - Doug Jewell Recognized as Stormwater Professional of the Year
JEWELL Engineering is pleased to announce that on October 23, 2018, Doug Jewell was recognized by the North Carolina American Public Works Association as its Stormwater Professional of the Year for 2018 through the presentation to Doug of the H. Rooney Malcom award. The presentation was made at the annual NC APWA Stormwater Division Conference in Winston-Salem.
This award is named in honor of Dr. Malcom, who was a long-time teacher at North Carolina State University and mentor and friend to stormwater professionals across the country. Of particular note is that Dr. Malcom was Doug’s teacher, mentor, and MCE Committee Chairman during his years at NCSU, as well as lifelong personal friend.
The award recognizes Doug’s 40-year career as a stormwater professional and his accomplishments in design of many physical stormwater structures in North Carolina and neighboring states, his guidance to local municipalities in developing and implementing stormwater management programs and utilities, and his overall support of stormwater engineering and management as a professional endeavor. In accepting the award, Doug wishes to acknowledge the relationships and support he has been privileged to enjoy with the many employees, co-workers, clients, and peers who have been the mainstay of his professional career.
